Why you shouldn’t ignore snoring

Health Risks

Beyond being a nightly nuisance, snoring can signal more serious health risks and affect your well-being in various ways.

Relationship Impact

Constant snoring can strain relationships, affecting both the snorer and their partner’s quality of sleep and overall well-being.

Preventive Action

Snoring, when not treated, can lead to more severe sleep disorders like Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Why Sleep Apnea Is No Joke

Sleep apnea, particularly Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), is more than just loud snoring. It’s a potentially serious sleep disorder that requires attention and treatment.

Cardiovascular Disease

Untreated sleep apnea increases the risk of hypertension, heart disease, and stroke.

Increased Accident Risk

Daytime drowsiness from sleep apnea raises the likelihood of accidents at work or while driving.

Don’t let snoring affect your quality of life.

Why Nightlase™ is effective

Utililsing a powerful yet gentle Erbium YAG laser that emits a special type of light that is safe for use on delicate mouth tissues. Here’s the science behind it.

Tightening Tissues

The unique comfortable and non ablative Erbium laser called Nightlase™ helps to tone and tighten intra oral soft tissues to reduce the vibrations that causes snoring

Improving Airflow

By opening up the airway, the treatment helps patients breathe more easily during sleep, reducing the effects of sleep apnea.

Consisting of two simple steps:

Step 1

Preconditioning

The laser then strengthens the dental and intra-oral tissue, tightening it to reduce snoring and improve airflow during sleep.

The Er laser preheats the dental tissue, preparing it for treatment.

Step 2

Tissue Strengthening

The laser then strengthens the dental and intra-oral tissue, tightening it to reduce snoring and improve airflow during sleep.

What to expect during your visit

1. Initial Assessment

Your journey begins with a consultation with Dr Phang. She’ll assess your snoring issues and discuss your sleep patterns. This helps us understand your unique needs and concerns.

2. Discussion of Treatment

If the laser application is suitable for you, we’ll explain the treatment in detail, including its benefits and what to expect during and after the procedure.

3. Combination of Treatment

CPAP is first line of care for severe sleep apnea & patients with serious health issues, and is a very effective treatment.

A CPAP machine consists of an electrical unit connected to a face-mask through a hose. Some people might have difficulty adjusting to and managing the CPAP. in these instances, an oral appliance is much better than no treatment at all.

Oral appliances can be suitable for patients with clenching, grinding and snoring, or mild to moderate sleep apnea. By repositioning your jaw in a forward position, it increases the airway space, thereby allowing for improved breathing during sleep.

Laser is an unique comfortable and non-ablative Er:YAG laser treatment called NightLase helps to tone and tighten the intra-oral soft tissues to make room for better airflow

Sometimes combination of different treatment modalities is necessary.

1. Preparation

You’ll be comfortably seated as we prepare for the treatment. There’s no need for anaesthesia or special preparations beforehand.

2. Laser Application

During the treatment, the gentle Erbium laser will be used to heat and strengthen the tissues in your throat. This process is practically painless and typically takes around 30 minutes.

3. Multiple Sessions

One month after your last session, you’ll revisit us to assess the response of the tissue and whether you are a good candidate for more sessions. Typically, NightLase treatment takes three sessions for optimal results.
